15 Beauty Quotes That Are Empowering

Every now and again, we need reminders about how beautiful we are. That’s okay. It’s normal! I believe even the most beautiful people have words of affirmation or quotes they say to themselves, whether it’s a confidence boost or a moment when they don’t think they are as beautiful as people say they are.

I have watched a few interviews and read articles where gorgeous women said they didn’t feel beautiful even when others would tell them so.

What did I think when I heard that? I thought, “Wow! It’s human to feel that way.”But we should also have those empowering words that will remind us, ” Yes, I am beautiful!” or “Yes, I have my imperfections, but I am still gorgeous!”

Without further ado, here are 15 empowering beauty quotes from women:

11 Cute Updos That Look Good On Black Women

As a Black woman, I can wear my hair any way I want, just like anyone else. But I think Black women have more options. For example, if my hair were in twists or braids, there could be at least 6 hairstyles that can be done. It could actually be more if I made a rose or stars or words out of the hair. Sometimes, I just want to do an updo. Now, I do love the creativity that can be done with bantu knots, space buns, braids, twists, afro, and locs. Sometimes, simple is great too. Think hair down and updos!

Speaking of updos, here are 11 updos that will look great on Black women:

Sleek bun

African threading updo

Cornrow bun

Side braided ponytail

Bun with bangs

Updo with a swoop

Voila! These updo styles can be worn for any occasion. That’s right, any! You wanna dress it up? Add adornments like gold cuffs or pearl pins! I will say updos shouldn’t be done too often since there can be baby hair loss if the updo is done tightly and back to back.

11 quotes that serve as a reminder that women should feel beautiful at every shape and size

It seems like everywhere we turn, we are being implicitly or explicitly shown what society believes is beautiful. From billboards to commercials to social media, it seems like there is a certain beauty standard that is pushed more than others. This is your reminder that you are beautiful, no matter what size or shape you are. Truly. Of course, if you feel you need to tone or work out a little bit more to be at a healthy size, then do that. You don’t have to be a size 0 to be beautiful. You can be a size 6 or 16 and still be beautiful. It is normal to have insecurities or doubts. We are human! But sometimes we need affirmations or positive words to remind us that we should feel better at every stage when it comes to our size and shape. It is important to feel beautiful NOW. It doesn’t have to be when someone tells you, “Wow, you are stunning!” Of course, compliments are amazing! But it is also important to remember that you are gorgeous. Here are some quotes that should remind you that you are THAT GIRL, no matter your shape or size.

Fast Hair Growth with This Aloe & Avocado DIY Hair Mask

As I progressed through my natural hair journey in 2022 [ 6 years after transitioning and over a year since I did a big chop ], I decided to do things differently the second time around.

Aside from making some adjustments [ adding hot oil treatments and heat!], I wanted to incorporate a hair mask. But I wanted to make the hair mask myself!  So where did I go for ideas? Well…YouTube University! There, I came across different things I could try. After getting inspo and doing research for a few days, I decided to go with an aloe vera  avocado hair mask. Since 2022, I have been using this hair mask, and it has helped with keeping my hair moisturized as well as aiding in the growth of my hair.

I do want to mention that up until a few weeks ago [ July 2025 ], I was using the hair mask after I did the hot oil treatment so it waa as follows: hot oil >> shampoo >> condition>> hair mask >> LCO but I did switch to the following steps: hot oil >> shampoo >>condition >> hair mask >>LCO
The reason for the switch was that the hair mask needs to be applied to clean hair.

Even though I’m almost 10 years in, I’m still learning and that’s the beauty of the natural hair journey! 🥰

These are the ingredients I use:

Avocado [ 1 large]

Avocado contains healthy fats and  Vitamin A, which is known to promote hair growth. Avocados also contain Omega-3 fatty acids and Lutein, both of which are essential for healthy hair.

                                                                               Aloe vera [ 4 tablespoons ]

Aloe vera helps to make hair softer and reduces the chance of breakage.

1 egg

Eggs are a popular ingredient in many hair care products. They are the perfect natural product to provide moisture and strengthen hair! Also, eggs are a great source of protein, which is essential for hair growth. Not to mention, eggs are also rich in biotin- an important nutrient for healthy hair.

                                                                            Honey [ 2 tablespoons]

Honey, like most of the other ingredients, is used in a variety of ways. It can be applied to the scalp and hair to promote growth and reduce dryness. It is also believed to help with dandruff-related itching and scalp irritation. My preference is pure honey.

Hair oil [ 4 to 6 drops ]

The oil that I typically use is The Multi-Purpose pure blend oil from Melanin Haircare. The Multi-purpose oil, which includes Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Argan Oil, helps to keep hair nourished. I also use it for my hot oil treatment.

*The multi-purpose oil is currently out of stock but you can sign up for their newsletter to find out when the oil will be back in stock. In the meantime, if you do not have the Melanin multi-use oil, you can use the following combination:

4 drops of the multi-use oil or 1 drop of castor oil, 2 drops of jojoba oil, 2 drops of extra virgin olive oil- you can use any oil of your choice. These are my preferences!

Castor oil helps with hair growth and scalp health by promoting blood circulation.

Jojoba oil strengthens hair and promotes hair thickness.

Olive oil adds shine and helps with scalp health.

Water [ 1 cup, but depends on the consistency you want; rosewater is my preference!]

Water is very important in maintaining healthy hair. It keeps hair moisturized and hydrated, which is very necessary for a healthy scalp, and reduces the chances of having breakage.

Voila!

If you have most of these ingredients in your home already, this could be quite affordable.

Also wanted to mention,  I tried making the hair mask a week in advance and freezing it, but it no longer had the thick consistency I wanted.

Hence, I make the hair mask the day before or day of my wash day.

Now, it can get messy, but the way my hair looks when I wash out the hair mask makes it worth it 👌

After applying the mask all over [including the edges!], I put the heat cap on for 15 to 30 mins. Once that’s done, rinse with lukewarm water for 5 minutes to make sure there’s no residue.

Hope you’ll try this out!

Note: if you have hair problems or are unsure if you should use any of the ingredients because of health issues or allergies, please consult with a trusted hair stylist or cosmetologist 🙂 I am not a licensed cosmetologist. I am simply sharing what works for me!
