With the hustle and bustle of the world, it can be hard to find time to find things to do. What kind of things? Well, things that bring us happiness and are fun! It doesn’t have to take too much of your time but it is important to engage in things that put a smile on our faces. Of course, the more we engage in such activities, the better our moods will be. Some of these can be done year round while you may prefer to do some of these during certain parts of the year. With that in mind, here are 15 great things you can do to improve your happiness!

  1. Working out: Whether you can work out twice a week for 30 minutes or three times a week for 15 minutes, it can reduce anxiety and boost self-confidence. It can be challenging when you are so comfy on the sofa or bed but I know that once you start moving, you’ll likely want to keep going. After some time, I feel happy and more energized!

     2. Deep breathing or mindfulness: Breathe in, breathe out. Turn on some soothing instrumental music or jazz and let your mind wander to a peaceful place. Try to let go or quiet any worries or thoughts of doubt or discouragement you may have. You should feel lighter and be able to breathe a little easier!

   3. Listening to music: Music can make you feel good. It can put you in a happy place and can even even boost productivity. If you can, listen to music before your work shift, school, or whenever you have the chance. You can even do this while dancing or going for a walk!

    4. Riding your bike: Riding your bike can improve your quality of life and sleep. Yes, sleep! It can also make you smarter. If you are concerned about your weight, cycling is an amazing way to begin or maintain an active lifestyle. Of course, please consult with your physician if you have any health concerns.

  5. Dancing: Get up on the floor and shake your groove thing! Dancing is fun and can help you get in touch with different emotions. You don’t have to spend too much time on it. If you only have 5 minutes to dance to your favorite song to get you in a better mood, go for it!

 6. Volunteering: Knowing that you are making a change in a person’s life can make you happy. It may seem like it’s not much but devoting time and care to pack catheters or food for people who really need it, makes more of a difference than you will ever know. You also get to meet new people and feel a sense of purpose. Volunteer as much as you can [ once a month, once every two months, or whatever you can afford to commit ]

  7. Reading books: Read that book you have been meaning to read. Whether it’s at a Barnes and Noble, a local library, or sitting on the patio, spend a few moments and go into another world of imagination. Not to mention, it can also help you sleep better!

  8. Going for a walk in the park: This can lead to relaxation as you are around trees and animals. The chirping of the birds and noticing the wind blowing against the trees can bring a great feeling. When I just stare at the trees or the clouds for a few moments, I feel an improvement in my mood.

 9.  Watching a funny movie: They say laughter is the best medicine. I can say that while I am watching a sitcom or a funny movie or clip and I laugh to the point of trying to catch my breath, my mind is focused on the funny line or scene. This makes me happy and I have no worries in the world!

 10. Going to the beach: This activity can help in keeping you calm which is probably because of the sound of the waves. So go ahead. Take those shoes off and let your feet touch the sand and water!
